Iron Fief
A medieval systems game about the tension that builds inside rituals — jousts, trials, duels.
Iron Fief is a line of medieval systems games built in Unity. It includes fief management and tactical experiments, but the core is ceremonial confrontation: jousts, trials, duels.
The design doctrine is "ritual tension." A ritual has a fixed form and order, and until the outcome lands, that form holds the tension in place. The beat before the lances meet, before the verdict is read — this game is an experiment in building those moments as systems.
Current work is a voxel art remake, VoxelJoust: the proven v4 code and balance stay intact while the assets are swapped for voxels. The art direction also makes room for exaggerated humor — armor shattering off a knight as he is unhorsed. Serious tension, absurd endings.
Systems and features
- Jousting — a core ritual duel where the format itself builds tension
- Ritual-based confrontations: trials, duels
- Fief management and tactical experiments
- Voxel art remake (VoxelJoust) — proven v4 code and balance kept, assets swapped
- Exaggerated payoffs, like armor shattering on an unhorsing
Current status: Unity prototype, currently mid-remake into voxel art (VoxelJoust).
Ideas and feedback are welcome
If this project makes you want to say something — a direction, a doubt, a feature idea — send it over. Prototype-stage projects change shape based on exactly this kind of input.
