Skiff

Skiff is a letter app. You write one letter, but you do not choose who gets it. A post office reads it and hands it to someone. If that person answers, the two of you are connected, and from then on the post office steps out.

A new letter can be written only once a day, and if no reply comes you cannot write to that person again. There are no notifications and no fixed delivery time. An answer may arrive tomorrow or next week, so the waiting is half of the app.

Letters carry no name, no age, no location. You are not told whether a reply came from the post office or from another person; if you want to know, the two of you can ask each other. Every first letter is read by a human before it is passed on, uncomfortable letters can be reported and blocked, and reports are reviewed within a day.

It shipped on the App Store in August 2026. It is a Korean-language iPhone app built with Expo (React Native) and Supabase. There are five kinds of paper — plain, lined, grid, dot, and airmail — and the person reading sees the letter on the paper you chose.
